Alfred Binet

Alfred Binet was a French psychologist whose work helped establish intelligence testing as a practical field of psychological assessment. Working with Théodore Simon, he developed the Binet–Simon scale for evaluating the intellectual skills of French schoolchildren, an approach that became foundational to later intelligence tests. Binet’s methods emphasized examining children’s abilities in relation to age and educational needs rather than reducing intelligence to a fixed inherited quantity.
