Alphonse Allais

Alphonse Allais was a French journalist, man of letters, and humorist whose work enlivened the small magazines and major newspapers of fin-de-siècle France. Connected with Paris’s bohemian and unconventional literary circles, he developed a style marked by satire, comic fantasy, and an eye for absurdity. He also participated in the Arts incohérents exhibition in 1883, reflecting his interest in experimental humor beyond conventional literature.
