About Arthur Streeton
Arthur Streeton was a leading Australian Impressionist and a central figure in the Heidelberg School, whose paintings brought the distinctive light, atmosphere and pastoral character of Australia into national art. His celebrated landscapes include *Golden summer, Eaglemont* and *The purple noon’s transparent might*, while his later work as an official war artist recorded Australian service on the Western Front during World War I. Streeton’s career also included extended periods in London and Europe, where he studied European art while continuing to develop an unmistakably Australian vision.
