Aubrey Williams

Aubrey Williams was a Guyanese painter whose large, expressive works drew on modernist abstraction, Caribbean experience, and Indigenous American visual traditions. Trained initially as an agronomist, he worked among the Warrau people in Guyana before moving to Britain in 1952, where he became associated with the Caribbean Artists Movement. His best-known bodies of work include the Shostakovich, Olmec-Maya, and Cosmos series.
