B. R. Ambedkar

B. R. Ambedkar was an Indian jurist, economist, philosopher, and social reformer who challenged caste oppression and advocated equal citizenship. He chaired the Drafting Committee of India’s Constituent Assembly and became the country’s first Law and Justice Minister. His scholarship ranged from economics and constitutional law to comparative religion, and his 1956 conversion to Buddhism marked a major culmination of his campaign for social dignity and equality.
