Betty Williams

Betty Williams was a Northern Irish peace activist who co-founded the Community of Peace People in 1976 with Mairead Corrigan, building a grassroots movement against sectarian violence during the Troubles. Their efforts earned the 1976 Nobel Peace Prize for seeking an end to Northern Ireland’s violent conflict. Williams later continued international work promoting peace and children’s welfare.
