Bliss Carman

Bliss Carman was a Canadian poet, essayist, journalist, and editor whose lyrical writing often explored nature and spiritual experience. Born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, he studied at the University of New Brunswick, Edinburgh, and Harvard before spending much of his career in the United States. His major works include *Low Tide on Grand Pré* (1893) and the *Vagabondia* poetry series, co-written with Richard Hovey; he was later recognized as Canada’s unofficial poet laureate.
