About Bridget Riley
Bridget Riley is a British painter and a leading figure in Op Art, known for abstract compositions that use lines, squares, circles, and color to produce sensations of movement and optical instability. She initially worked in black and white before introducing color in the mid-1960s, and her international reputation grew after her inclusion in The Responsive Eye at New York’s Museum of Modern Art in 1965. Riley represented Britain at the 1968 Venice Biennale, where she became the first woman to receive its International Prize for Painting.
