Can Themba

Can Themba was a South African journalist, editor, and short-story writer associated with Drum magazine and the vibrant Black urban culture of 1950s Sophiatown. Educated at the University of Fort Hare, he brought a sharp social perspective to both his journalism and fiction. His best-known story, “The Suit,” remains an important work in South African literary history.
