Charles Brent

Charles Brent was an Episcopal bishop whose ministry combined overseas missionary leadership, military chaplaincy, and advocacy for Christian cooperation. He served as the Episcopal Church’s first missionary bishop in the Philippines and later coordinated religious support for American forces during World War I. Brent also became a prominent international campaigner against the opium trade, helping connect ecclesiastical work with emerging efforts at international drug control.
