Charles Nyamiti

Charles Nyamiti (1931–2020) was a Tanzanian Catholic priest and theologian who became a leading pioneer of inculturated African Christian theology. His work brought African cultural perspectives into dialogue with Catholic theological traditions, particularly in Christology, ecclesiology, and reflection on ancestry. He taught for many years at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa in Nairobi and wrote influential works including *Christ as Our Ancestor* and *The Way to Christian Theology for Africa*.
