Constantin Noica

Constantin Noica (1909–1987) was a Romanian philosopher whose work addressed the history of philosophy, philosophy of culture, ontology, and logic. He developed an original ontological project drawing on the resources of the Romanian language. His writings included *Mathesis or the Simple Joys*, published in 1934. During the communist period, he lived under forced residence from 1949 to 1958 and was imprisoned as a political detainee from 1958 to 1964.
