David Hockney

David Hockney was a British painter, printmaker, photographer, and stage designer whose vivid portraits, swimming-pool scenes, landscapes, and experiments with photocollage and digital imagery made him a major figure in modern British art. After studying at the Royal College of Art, he divided much of his career between Britain, California, and France, drawing inspiration from each setting’s light, people, and landscapes. His work repeatedly tested how images could represent perception, movement, and time across painting, printmaking, photography, theater, and digital media.
