Doreen Lawrence

Doreen Lawrence is a British-Jamaican anti-racism and equality campaigner whose public work followed the 1993 racist murder of her son, Stephen Lawrence. Her campaign for justice helped prompt the Macpherson inquiry, whose 1999 report identified institutional racism in the Metropolitan Police. She co-founded the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust, later became a life peer, and continues to advocate for police reform, inclusion, and action against hate crime.
