Eavan Boland

Eavan Boland was an Irish poet whose work brought women’s domestic lives, historical memory, and questions of Irish identity into the center of modern Irish poetry. Her collections include *In Her Own Image*, *Outside History*, and *In a Time of Violence*, while her memoir *Object Lessons* examined the relationship between being a woman and being a poet. Boland also taught at Stanford University, where she directed the creative writing program.
