Edna Manley

Edna Manley was an English-born Jamaican sculptor whose work helped shape modern Jamaican art. After moving to Jamaica in 1922, she developed a powerful body of sculpture addressing identity, political awakening, and African-Caribbean experience, including *Negro Aroused* and *The Prophet*. She also helped advance art education and became a pioneering figure in Jamaica’s cultural history.
