Edward O'Connor Terry

Edward O’Connor Terry was an English actor and theatre proprietor whose career moved from provincial touring to leading comic roles at London’s Strand and Gaiety theatres. He later managed the Olympic and opened Terry’s Theatre in 1887, where his performance as Dick Phenyl in Arthur Wing Pinero’s *Sweet Lavender* became a major success. Terry also toured internationally and served as a Justice of the Peace, Freemason, and trustee of the Actors’ Benevolent Fund.
