El Anatsui

El Anatsui is a Ghanaian sculptor and painter whose practice transforms discarded materials into monumental, flexible works that combine sculpture, textile traditions, and installation. Best known for shimmering wall hangings assembled from liquor-bottle caps and copper wire, he draws on Ghanaian cultural forms while exploring reuse, exchange, and historical change. After moving to Nigeria in 1975, he taught sculpture at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, for much of his career.
