Emilio Pettoruti

Emilio Pettoruti was an Argentine painter whose work helped bring Cubist and Futurist ideas into Argentina’s modern art scene. After studying in Italy on a provincial scholarship, he developed recurring subjects such as musicians, harlequins, glasses, and still lifes through strongly geometric compositions. He later directed the Museo Provincial de Bellas Artes in La Plata, while his exhibitions and writing helped promote artistic renewal in Argentina.
