Emily Dickinson

Emily Dickinson was an American poet whose compressed, unconventional verse explored death, faith, nature, consciousness, and inner life. Born and raised in Amherst, Massachusetts, she spent most of her life at the family Homestead, where she wrote extensively while publishing little during her lifetime. Her poems and manuscripts gained broad recognition after her death in 1886 and became central to the study of American poetry.
