Ernst Happel

Ernst Happel was an Austrian defender who represented his country at the 1954 and 1958 World Cups before becoming one of Europe’s most accomplished club managers. He won the European Champion Clubs’ Cup with Feyenoord in 1970 and Hamburger SV in 1983, making him an early two-club winner of the continent’s premier competition. Happel also guided the Netherlands to the 1978 World Cup final and later managed Austria in 1992.
