Fernando Botero

Fernando Botero was a Colombian painter and sculptor whose distinctive figurative style enlarged people, animals, and objects into rounded, monumental forms. His work drew on European artistic traditions while remaining closely connected to Colombian visual culture, and his paintings and sculptures were exhibited internationally. He also made a major cultural contribution to Colombia by donating works that formed the core of Bogotá’s Botero Museum.
