Frankétienne

Frankétienne was a Haitian poet, novelist, playwright, painter, musician, and teacher whose work moved between Haitian Creole and French. He co-founded Spiralism in 1968, developing an experimental aesthetic shaped by linguistic invention, fragmented form, and Haiti’s complex history. His influential works include the Creole novel Dézafi, while his visual art extended the intensity and symbolism of his literary world.
