Gabino Barreda

Gabino Barreda was a Mexican physician, philosopher, and politician who introduced and promoted positivism in Mexico. He helped shape the country’s post-Reform educational policy, contributing to legislation that made primary education compulsory, free, and secular. He founded the Escuela Nacional Preparatoria and served as its first director, linking scientific education with civic and moral formation.
