George Peabody

George Peabody was an American financier who built a major banking career in London after moving there from Massachusetts in 1837. He later became renowned for philanthropy, supporting educational institutions in the United States and creating housing for working-class Londoners through the Peabody Trust. His banking partnership with Junius Spencer Morgan helped lay groundwork for the firm that became J. P. Morgan & Co.
