George Soares-Prabhu

George Soares-Prabhu was an Indian Jesuit priest, exegete, and biblical theologian whose scholarship explored how Christian Scripture could be interpreted within Indian cultural and religious contexts. A longtime teacher at Jnana Deepa in Pune, he helped develop an Indian contextual theology attentive to liberation and the experiences of the poor. His major works include studies of Matthew’s infancy narratives and collected writings on biblical theology, interpretation, and the “dharma of Jesus.”
