Gerhard Richter

Gerhard Richter is a German visual artist whose practice moves between photograph-based painting and abstraction. Born in Dresden in 1932, he developed a body of work that examines how images shape personal memory, collective history, and the meaning of painting itself. His career includes influential blurred photo paintings, nonobjective compositions, and experiments with glass, photography, and digital reproduction.
