Hajime Sakaki

Hajime Sakaki was a pioneering Japanese psychiatrist who helped establish psychiatric education and clinical practice at the University of Tokyo. After studying psychiatry in Germany, he returned to Japan and became the university’s first professor of psychiatry, opening its psychiatry department. His work helped lay the institutional foundations of modern psychiatry in Japan.
