Hannah Adams

Hannah Adams was an American author and historian whose books helped establish comparative religion as a field of study in the early United States. Her works included *A View of Religions* (1784), *A Summary History of New England* (1799), and *History of the Jews* (1812). Largely self-taught, Adams became one of the earliest American women to make writing a profession and was the first professional author admitted to the Boston Athenaeum.
