Heinrich Heine

Heinrich Heine was a German poet and writer whose lyric poetry, travel writing, journalism, and political verse helped reshape nineteenth-century German literature. His best-known works include *Buch der Lieder*, *Reisebilder*, and *Deutschland. Ein Wintermärchen*, which combine Romantic imagery with social and political criticism. After moving to Paris in 1831, Heine worked as a correspondent and became an important cultural intermediary between Germany and France.
