J. E. Casely Hayford

J. E. Casely Hayford was a Gold Coast lawyer, journalist, author, and politician who served on the Legislative Council from 1916. He advocated constitutional reform and African self-government through the National Congress of British West Africa. His published works included *Gold Coast Native Institutions* (1903) and *Ethiopia Unbound* (1911).
