Jerome

Jerome was a priest, biblical scholar, and Church Father whose revisions and translations of Scripture became the foundation of the Latin Vulgate. Working from Greek and Hebrew sources, he produced influential biblical translations and commentaries while living as an ascetic in Bethlehem. His scholarship and theological influence led both Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Christians to honor him as a saint and Doctor of the Church.
