Jiří Suchý

Jiří Suchý is a Czech poet, lyricist, composer, actor, playwright, singer, filmmaker and visual artist whose work helped shape modern Czech popular culture. In 1959, he co-founded Prague’s Semafor Theatre with composer Jiří Šlitr, writing its librettos, songs and music while performing in and directing many productions. His long-running theatrical partnerships, first with Šlitr and later with Jitka Molavcová, made Semafor a defining center of Czech musical theatre and comedy.
