John Logie Baird

John Logie Baird was a Scottish engineer and inventor whose mechanical television system produced the first publicly demonstrated working television images in 1926. He later pioneered transatlantic television transmission, early color television, and stereoscopic television, while his system helped support the BBC’s first experimental broadcasts. Although electronic television ultimately superseded his mechanical approach, Baird’s demonstrations established television as a practical medium.
