John Ruskin

John Ruskin was a major Victorian art critic whose writing connected painting, architecture, nature, and social life. His influential books, including Modern Painters and The Stones of Venice, championed J. M. W. Turner and medieval craftsmanship while challenging the values of industrial modernity. As an Oxford professor, educator, and reformer, he extended his influence beyond criticism into social thought, philanthropy, and public education.
