José Lezama Lima

José Lezama Lima was a Cuban poet, essayist, and novelist whose richly allusive writing became a defining force in twentieth-century Latin American literature. He founded the influential journal Orígenes with José Rodríguez Feo, creating a major forum for Cuban poetry, fiction, criticism, and art. His best-known novel, Paradiso (1966), and his poetry are associated with the Latin American neo-baroque and have influenced generations of writers.
