Joy McKean

Joy McKean was an Australian country singer and songwriter whose career began with radio performances alongside her sister in the McKean Sisters. She became a central figure in Australian country music through her songwriting, including “Lights on the Hill,” which won the first Golden Guitar for songwriting in 1973, and through her long musical and professional partnership with Slim Dusty. McKean also helped shape the country-music industry as a manager, festival co-founder, memoirist, and advocate for Australian music.
