Juan Luis Segundo

Juan Luis Segundo was a Uruguayan Jesuit theologian and a major figure in Latin American liberation theology. His work examined the relationship between Christian faith, social context, ideology, and justice, and he developed the influential method known as the “hermeneutical circle.” In 1965, he founded Montevideo’s Peter Faber Center for Theological and Social Studies and wrote widely, including the multivolume *A Theology for Artisans of a New Humanity*.
