Judith Wright

Judith Wright was a major Australian poet whose first collection, *The Moving Image* (1946), established her literary reputation and whose writing often connected human experience with the natural world. Beyond poetry, she helped found the Wildlife Preservation Society of Queensland and campaigned to protect the Great Barrier Reef and Fraser Island from destructive development. She also supported Aboriginal land rights, making environmental stewardship and social justice central to her public life.
