Lamin Sanneh

Lamin Sanneh was a Gambian-American historian and scholar of Islam, Christianity, and world Christianity. As a Yale professor, he examined Christian expansion beyond the West and Muslim-Christian relations, drawing on his own upbringing in Gambia and extensive study of African religious history. His books include *Translating the Message*, *Abolitionists Abroad*, and *Beyond Jihad*, and the University of Ghana established the Lamin Sanneh Institute in his honor.
