Lav Diaz

Lav Diaz is a Filipino filmmaker whose work examines Philippine history, social struggle, and collective memory through an unusually deliberate approach to cinematic duration. His films are noted for extended running times, long takes, and an austere visual style that links personal stories with broader political and historical experience. His film From What Is Before won the Golden Leopard at the 2014 Locarno Film Festival.
