Le Quy Don

Lê Quý Đôn was an influential Vietnamese scholar, poet, historian, and government official of the eighteenth century. His wide-ranging writings addressed history, geography, philosophy, agriculture, and literature, including the encyclopedic Vân đài loại ngữ and the historical Đại Việt thông sử. He also served in senior Lê–Trịnh institutions and traveled as an envoy to Qing China, experiences that informed his observations of Vietnamese society and regional affairs.
