Leonard Williams

Leonard Williams, also known as William Leonard Williams and Mita Rēnata, was a New Zealand Anglican missionary and a leading scholar of the Māori language. He served as the third Bishop of Waiapu from 1895 to 1909 and helped develop Anglican mission work in the region. His major linguistic contributions included editions of *A Dictionary of the New Zealand Language* and *First Lessons in the Māori Language*.
