Lubomyr Romankiw

Lubomyr Romankiw was an IBM Fellow whose research in electrochemistry, magnetic materials, and microfabrication helped advance electronic data storage. Working with David Thompson, he co-invented practical thin-film magnetic storage heads that increased disk capacity while reducing drive size and cost. Romankiw was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2012 for this work.
