Luchino Visconti

Luchino Visconti was an Italian film, theatre, and opera director whose work helped shape postwar cinematic neorealism. His career ranged from the socially grounded drama of *Ossessione* and *Rocco and His Brothers* to richly detailed historical films such as *The Leopard* and *Death in Venice*. Born into Milanese aristocracy, he became known for combining rigorous social observation with an intense interest in cultural decline, beauty, and history.
