Luis Buñuel

Luis Buñuel was a Spanish-Mexican filmmaker whose provocative cinema fused surrealism with sharp critiques of religion, social conventions, and political authority. His early collaborations with Salvador Dalí, including *Un Chien Andalou* (1929), helped establish him as a major figure in avant-garde film. After settling in Mexico, he directed influential works such as *Los olvidados*, *Nazarín*, and *The Exterminating Angel*, before continuing his career in France and Spain with films including *Viridiana*, *Belle de Jour*, and *The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie*.
