Matei Zaharia

Matei Zaharia is a computer scientist whose work centers on large-scale data processing, cloud computing, databases, and artificial intelligence. During his doctoral research at UC Berkeley, he started Apache Spark, an open-source framework that became widely used for distributed data processing. He is an associate professor of EECS at UC Berkeley and cofounder and CTO of Databricks, and has also contributed to projects including Apache Mesos, MLflow, Delta Lake, and ColBERT.
