Mercy Otis Warren

Mercy Otis Warren was an American poet, playwright, political satirist, and historian whose writing helped shape and document the Revolutionary era. She published patriotic plays anonymously during the 1770s and later opposed ratification of the Constitution as an Anti-Federalist. Her three-volume *History of the Rise, Progress, and Termination of the American Revolution* (1805) became one of the earliest comprehensive histories of the Revolution written by an American woman.
