Michel Aflaq

Michel Aflaq was a Syrian philosopher and political theorist whose ideas helped shape Ba'athism, the ideology of Arab nationalism associated with the Ba'ath Party. Alongside Salah al-Din Bitar, he was one of the party’s founders in the early 1940s. Aflaq later served as secretary-general of the Iraqi-led Ba'ath Party, remaining an influential figure in the movement until his death in 1989.
