Monica McWilliams

Monica McWilliams is a Northern Irish academic, peace activist, and former politician whose work has focused on domestic violence, human security, and women’s participation in peace processes. She co-founded the Northern Ireland Women’s Coalition and took part in the negotiations that produced the 1998 Belfast (Good Friday) Agreement. McWilliams later served as Chief Commissioner of the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission and is Emeritus Professor at Ulster University’s Transitional Justice Institute.
